DO YOU NEED HELP...?
Don't worry, that's what we're here for...! It is sometimes tricky to understand all of the terminology we use on this site and we realise sometimes you may have questions. So, to help you along, the following should answer most of your FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions). If after reading this you have further questions, then please contact us.
WHAT IS A COATING AND WHY WOULD I NEED IT? On each item that we stock in our store you will see an option to add a coating. This can be either Matt or Gloss. We find that the Matt is more suitable for photographic images and the Gloss for when you want a more 'Oil on Canvas' appearance. The coating adds a water and dirt resistant layer to the final print and is ideal if you are going to hang the print anywhere it could get wet or dirty easily. It also provides additional UV light protection. We recommend that you order a coating when choosing your print, as it will make it look extra special! Just choose the option you need before adding the item to your basket.
WHAT IS GALLERY WRAPPING? Gallery wrapping is the process that the finished print goes through in order to mount it onto the frame. The canvas is gently stretched by hand on all four sides and wrapped around the edges. Each corner is then carefully folded and tucked in to ensure that there are no unsightly edges.
Then, the canvas is fixed to the back of the frame all the way round and finished off neatly to hide all of the fixings. This ensures that the finished print is as good to look at from the back as it is from the front! Finally, we put stretching wedges into all four corners to ensure the canvas is a tight as possible on the frame.
WHAT MATERIALS DO YOU USE AND HOW LONG WILL MY PRINT LAST? We only use quality artists materials for all of our prints and this is complemented by HP colour and lightfast inks, which are guaranteed fade resistant for a minimum of 75 years. This means there is a good chance of our prints outlasting many of our customers!
I HAVE AN IMAGE I WANT TO HAVE PRINTED ONTO CANVAS, CAN YOU DO IT FOR ME? Of course! This is one of the most common requests that we get and we are more than happy to accomodate. The size of print that we can achieve from your image is completely dependent on the size and quality of your original file. For obvious reasons digital files are better but we are also happy to accept conventional photographic prints or flat artwork. As you can see from the image on the right, we can also take kids paintings and transfer those too! Please ensure that you have the copyright or permission from the owner for the image we are reproducing. If you would like this service, please visit the Your Image on Canvas page in the navigation above or Contact Us and we can give you all the advice you need.
I WANT A SPECIAL SIZE THAT IS SMALLER / BIGGER THAN WHAT YOU CURRENTY OFFER ON YOUR SITE? Not a problem! Simply Contact Us with what you have in mind and we'll let you know the cost. We can accomodate most sizes within reason and if you want a 'Super Size' multiple print, where multiple canvas prints are used to make one large image for a very large wall or space, we can make this for you too. Why not give this a try, you will be surprised at how cost effective custom sizes can be.
WHAT'S SO SPECIAL ABOUT YOUR FRAMES? ARE THEY REALLY THAT GOOD? We use Museum Quality Artists Stretcher Bars which are made of the finest quality kiln dried fir wood. Fir wood has the advantage of being very light, yet extremely hard wearing and not succeptable to warping like standard pine is prone to do from other suppliers.
Each bar features a rounded back edge which is designed to ensure that the canvas is always kept a full 1/2" above the stretcher bar to ensure that there can be no ghost impressions on the canvas. These stretcher bars also incorporate 'wedges' which are placed in each corner and allow the canvas to be stretched extrememly tightly over the frame. It also allows the canvas to be restretched over time, which can be of particular importance on the larger sizes we offer.
DO YOU SELL UNMOUNTED OR ROLLED PRINTS? Yes we do, but unfortunately at present you cannot buy these online. Buying unmounted or rolled prints to either display unframed or to mount and frame yourself, can be very cost effective. To find out more information regarding prices and shipping options or to buy, please Contact Us and we can give you everything you need. For our international customers, buying prints in an unmounted or rolled form is very useful as you can save substantially on shipping costs.
ONCE I GET MY PRINT, HOW DO I HANG IT? We supply hanging kits with all of our prints so putting them up on the wall is as easy as banging in a picture hook. No more messing around with screws and drills! The unique design of the CWH Canvas Hanger included in the kit, incorporates a cut-out which allows the print to be hung on a standard 2 pin picture hook (also supplied). Using these hangers ensures that the finished print is 'pulled' flush to the wall and results in a very secure fixing with minimum fuss.
